Security Analyst Consultant Contractor

The Role

The Security Analyst Consultant is responsible for working with and coordinating the operations and maintenance of enterprise security tools and platforms in service of Security Counsel’s client base. This position is a contract for hire and will be based on mirrored contracts Security Counsel has in place. 

Day to Day Activities Include 

  • Working closely with client stakeholders to gather technical requirements and executing on deliverables 

  • Collaborating with various client stakeholders in multiple technical disciplines including developers, subject matter experts, database administrators, system administrators, and system architects to support existing and implement new security solutions 

  • Assisting client stakeholders with maintaining various security tools and practices (Ex: vulnerability management, security testing, security training, SIEM, etc) 

  • Performing industry research on new security protocols and methodologies 

  • Being an integral Security Counsel team member in the planning, development, design, procurement, maintenance and implementation of security for client enterprise-level systems 

  • Mentoring client stakeholders in information systems cloud security best practices 

  • Acting as a core member of the Security Counsel security advisory services team 

  • Providing assistance to client security teams for security investigations, incidents, and breaches 

  • Participating is client stakeholder meetings such as daily standups and project management meetings, and standing in for senior Security Counsel consultants in meetings and other engagements when they are not available 

  • Providing relevant and periodic reporting regarding client progress to senior Security Counsel consultants 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 1+ years of experience doing information security work as a consultatnt 

  • 3+ years of previous experience in a technical field (ex: IT) 

  • Working knowledge of one or more security tools: Antivirus/Anti-malware protection, vulnerability management scanners, forensic tools, Security Event Management (SIEM) management portals, Data loss prevention management portals, etc 

  • Experience as an Incident Response team member 

  • Previous experience with US government compliance frameworks (HIPAA, FISMA/FedRAMP, MARS-E, IRS Pub1075, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, etc) & working through the ATO/ATC process 

  • Previous work experience at an organization that develops software 

  • Familiarity with Agile project management best practices 

  • Previous experience at an organization defined as a startup 

Required Qualifications 

All professionals at Security Counsel are expected to possess these qualifications

  • Certifications, technical training, or other security relevant work experience, especially in a consultant role 

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of technical understanding 

  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently 

  • Ability to organize time and project work efficiently 

  • Great presentation skills 

  • A strong ethical foundation, capable of thriving in an environment and culture where honesty, integrity, and accountability are core values 

  • A collaborative spirit, a team orientation, and a willingness and desire to contribute to the success of others

  • Must possess English language written and spoken level of native or C2 level proficiency

  • Must possess US citizenship or naturalization status that allows you to work in the US legally
